What would cause brown spotting between periods?

What would cause brown spotting between periods?

some women have some spotting while they ovulate. Others have what is called dysfinctional uterine bleeding which is any kind of bleeding in between periods and that should be checked out. If you have PCOS, that is also a common cause of spotting or bleeding. A cervical polyp may also be the culprit.

sometimes women can get brown spotting between periods and usually it is nothing to worry about.
sometimes its caused by a hormone inbalence and other factors.
however unless it is really bothering you or happening continiously, i would check with your doctor to see if theres anything that can be done, e.g go on the pill, etc

What would cause brown spotting between periods?

Brown spotting IS old blood that has taken a while to come out because there's not that much of it. If you are on birth control pills, it could be a sign that your prescription needs to be adjusted (when the hormone level is right, women will "spot" between periods). However, as it is sometimes a sign of something more ominous (various types of pelvic cancer, for example), you really should go have a check-up with your ob-gyn. I hope this helps.
