What's the actual difference between Decidual Bleeding and Period Bleeding?-I've
looked all over the internet for this and I can't seem to find a def.
answer. I hear deci = small spot dual= two layers dark and light. How
would someone know the difference? Does it follow the pattern of a
regular period flow? I know that many pregnant women have decidual
bleeding around the time of their expected period. Well what is the true
difference?
I'm asking this because I had unprotected sex with my hubby on Feb. 1st & 2nd (I had my period on Jan. 21st) and on Feb. 20th I started bleeding all of a sudden a very heavy flow. Normally the bleeding starts out light for about half a day then heavy then light. This time it's just heavy. Also, during my normal periods I have cramps for only an hour or so at the start of the bleeding, however this time I've had cramps that have lasted almost a full day. Could I have Decidual bleeding or it's just an abnormal period?

Decidual bleeding occurs when the hormonal imbalance in our bodies
cause a part of the uterine lining to shed-before the placenta has fully
attached to the uterine lining. It can occur around the time when your
period is due, and can also mimic it. It can be light or regular in
terms of "load" and the co louring can range from light to crimson red,
and can even contain little clots...So, yes, it mimics a period. I don't
think there's really a way that you can definitively differentiate
between the two (except, of course, if and when you later determine that
you are not pregnant).
I've read somewhere that if you did conceive but the fertilized egg failed to implant, then there's more/heavier bleeding. Sorry, I can't tell which site it was-I've been searching the internet like a madwoman b/c I had light-moderate bleeding without cramps and most of the classic early pregnancy sx at the same time...I also read that decidual bleeding can interfere with correct HTP testing...So, in spite of your bleeding, do you have any pregnancy sx? I'd wait a few days-see how long your bleeding lasts, and hey, if you feel pregnant, take a HTP. Baby dust to you!! ;)
